In Spring 2011 with the support of Blade Gillissen, I created an internship program through The School of Photography at Orange Coast College which connects non profit organizations with emerging photographers.The goal is simple; to provide professional photographic services to worthwhile causes. We have successfully secured relationships with five local organizations: Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Illumination Foundation, the Lucie Foundation, and SIMA.
The response has been overwhelming. We now have approximately 15 emerging photographers from OCC shooting various types of photography at each different foundation. Our photographers shoots events, studio portraits, and documentary projects throughout Orange County and Los Angeles.
In the short time that the photo internship academy has been active, we are now securing relationships with local professional photographers, placing our alumni with professionals in their desired field of expertise.
