MCAS El Toro has been the subject of major controversy since its closure in July of 1999. Although many believed the base would best suit an international airport, the decision was made in 2002 to sell the land and develop what is to become the Orange County Great Park. For the price of $650 million, Lennar Homes became the primary owner and developer of park. In 2006 I was commisioned by Lennar to document the land during the beginning phases of Land Development.
